Swimming holiday by the Tegernsee
The Tegernsee is known to be one of the cleanest lakes in all Bavaria. But it’s not only the water, it’s also the unique landscape and views with the Wallberg and the Risserkogel in the background that create a very special and fun swimming experience. Make yourself comfortable on one of the many beaches.
Hiking by the Tegernsee
With over 300 km of signed hiking trails, the Tegernsee region is a true hiker’s paradise. Embedded in the gentle foothills of the Mangfall range, hikers can discover a wide-ranging offer. Here you can find the right route for every taste, from comfortable walks to demanding scrambles. Whatever you decide on, the natural healing climate and the magnificent mountain scenery will be your constant companions.
Cycling, mountain biking & e-bikes
The varied nature of the Tegernseer Land is full of great cycling and mountain bike routes. In the mountains there are steep climbs and rushing descents. On the 20 km lake loop and along the banks of the Weißach and Manngfall, things run rather more smoothly. Fans of e-bikes can hire a modern bike in Bad Wiessee for a tour.
Golf all around Tegernsee
Our home is a true paradise for golfers. Right by the Tegernsee, there are two 18-hole and one 6-hole golf courses. If golf is your passion, you can also find another 28 golf courses within an hour’s drive.

In the winter, people want to be out in the fresh air, on the pistes and cross-country trails all around Bad Wiessee. Travel on your skis to the most distant corners of the region or swoop downhill on fabulous slopes of deep snow. Guests in our house can even borrow a modern set of cross-country ski equipment from us, free of charge.
Cross-country skiing in Bad Wiessee
Directly from the hotel, you can access the 4 km long local Bad Wiessee cross-country trail. The route has a skating track and is floodlit in the evenings. At Rohbogen near the golf course the trail leads directly into 8.5 km of well-maintained cross-country ski trails. In good snow conditions, the region around the Tegernsee can offer more than 100 km of well-prepared cross-country trails.
We lend cross-country skiing equipment & snowshoes free of charge
We are ourselves passionate cross-country skiers and are happy to pass our passion on to our guests. Which means that if you are staying in the Hotel Pension Ostler, you can at any time borrow our modern cross-country skiing equipment and snowshoes. Make use of our equipment or bring your own sports items with you and store them in our ski cellar.
Robert Ostler - Host and cross-country ski trainer
Your host Robert Ostler is a qualified cross-country ski trainer and is always happy to share his knowledge with our guests. Learn the basics of the sport or improve your technique under professional supervision. As an alternative, you can always take part in one of our cross-country skiing courses or a snowshoe hike.
Snowshoe hiking
In recent years, snowshoe hiking has hugely increased in popularity. You will make your way through deep snow, as people did centuries ago, and enjoy the peace and quiet and the closeness to nature. The trek through the snowy landscape will be led by your host Robert Ostler.

It’s not only the sporty types who find what they want at the Tegernsee . Those who enjoy life and those in need of recuperation can also find many opportunities for fun and their leisure time. You can easily get to the most beautiful hiking trails on the heights with the mountain cable cars in the surrounding areas. Meanwhile, the towns and villages in the surrounding area offer numerous opportunities to enjoy cultural events, see the sights or visit museums. And finally, there is a whole series of beautiful beaches and bathing experiences.

Experience culture
Bavarians really value their old, traditional way of life. This is why we still see many people here by the Tegernsee wearing traditional costume, hear traditional music or find an opportunity to watch a Schuhplattler dance. Visitors can best experience this living tradition at one of the many village festivals, such as the Seefest (lake festival) in Bad Wiessee.
Boat trips on the Tegernsee
The most beautiful view of the Tegernsee is probably from the water. There are steamships, rowing boats and many other options for exploring the lake. You can get an overview of the timetables, ships and prices directly from the Tegernsee shipping page.
Wallbergbahn cable car
The Wallberg watches over the Tegernsee from the south and offers a splendid panoramic view from its peak. With this cable car, you can get to the mountain stations without the otherwise obligatory muscle ache. The trip up is well worth while, both for the marvellous view of the lake and for the culinary delights in the Panorama restaurant. The mountain station is also the access point for many high-altitude hikes and the start location for many paragliders and kite fliers.
Aueralm
The Aueralm mountain hut lies at a height of 1,299 m above sea level and is one of the most popular destinations for hikers. In good weather, the splendid terrace invites you to enjoy an authentic Brotzeit snack. When it’s cold, guests can thaw out by the warm tiled stove in the cosy guest room.
Aquadome
You’ve never seen the lake like this! The Aquadome gives you a glimpse of the great variety of species in the underwater world of the Tegernsee. If you don’t want to go diving yourself, you should definitely pay a visit to the Aquadome. This walk-in aquarium holds more than 20 native species of fish and allows you to immerse yourself in a wonderful, mystical world.
Bad Wiessee Casino
In the 6,000 m² of the Bad Wiessee Casino, you can try your luck at the Black Jack, Roulette and Poker tables, as well as at more than 200 slot machines. A visit to the Casino is glamorous and gives you a special thrill. Spend an elegant evening full of excitement and risk a game or two.
Munich - Capital of the State of Bavaria
From our house, you can reach the centre of Munich, the state capital of Bavaria, in less than an hour. Visit the metropolis for the Oktoberfest, go on a sightseeing tour or enjoy yourself going shopping in the boutiques in the pedestrian zone. Above all, if you have never visited the city, you should not miss the opportunity.
